Do I need to connect my bank account?

My bank isn't a big American one. Will this work?
It should, if your bank gives you a PDF. There is no bank-by-bank setup: one reader handles every statement, from any country. It finds the rows that have a date and an amount, reads the common date and number styles (including 1,25,000.00 and Dr or Cr markers), and checks what it found against the opening and closing balances printed on the statement. Scans are read with text recognition. If a statement does not read, the page tells you why. A password-protected PDF needs an unlocked copy saved first. If the layout is the problem, you can black out your personal details in your browser and send us the redacted pages, so we can make the reader handle it.
What if my statement is a scan or a photo?

No. There's no budget to set, nothing to maintain, and no reason to come back daily. You upload a statement, you get an answer, you close the tab.
How accurate is it?
