How to download your Citibank statement as a PDF
Citibank offers online statements for its US bank accounts in Citi Online. Then upload it here to see where the money went, checked against the balances printed on the statement.
Getting the PDF from Citibank
In online banking
- Sign in to your online banking in a web browser.
- Look for a menu called Statements, e-Statements, Documents or Account history.
- Choose the account and the month or date range.
- Download the statement as a PDF. Do not take a screenshot: a picture has no text in it to read.
In the app
- Open your bank's app and choose the account.
- Look for Statements, e-Statements or Documents, often behind a More or three-dot menu.
- Pick the month, then Download or Share as PDF.
- Citi's current statements page describes the service but gives no steps, and the only step-by-step guide we found on citi.com is a credit card tutorial from 2016, so we have not used it.
Other ways, history and charges
- Statements older than those shown online can be requested; archived statements become available 24 to 48 hours later.
- How far back: Up to 24 months of bank account statements are available online straight away.
- Charges: Citi lists online bank statements as free.

What we read from the statement
A bank statement PDF normally shows the account and the statement period, an opening and a closing balance, and one row per transaction with a date, a description and an amount, often with a running balance. From that we build the breakdown: where the money went by category, what repeats, and totals in and out. The report is labelled Citibank when that name is printed near the top of the statement.
Dates and amounts on statements from the US
- Dates written as 05/04/2024, 05-04-24, 05.04.2024, 2024-04-05, 05 Apr 2024, 05-Apr-24 or Apr 5, 2024. A date with a month name but no year (05 Apr) takes its year from the statement header.
- Numeric dates are read month first (04/05/2024 is 5 April) unless the statement itself shows day-first dates, such as 25/04/2024, where the first number can only be a day.
- Amounts with two decimal places, such as 1,234.56 or 1234.56.
- Money out marked with a minus sign (before or after the number), brackets, or a DR suffix; CR marks money in. A statement with separate debit, credit and balance columns is read column by column.
Known limitations
- Password-protected PDFs
- We cannot open a PDF that asks for a password: the upload fails with "Could not read this PDF". Open it with the password, save or print an unlocked copy as PDF, and upload that.
- Scanned statements
- A scan or photo saved as PDF has no text layer, so we read it with OCR on our own server, up to the first 10 pages. OCR can misread a digit; the report says when it was used, so check its totals. A PDF downloaded from online banking is always more reliable.
- Size
- Up to 25 MB per file and the first 60 pages.
- Dates without a year, whole-number amounts
- A row whose date is only day and month in numbers (05/04) is not read, and neither is a row whose amount has no decimal part (150000 rather than 150000.00). If most of your rows look like that, the upload will say no transactions were found.
- No layout made for this bank
- There is no reader built specially for Citibank. One general reader handles every bank, and the report checks what it found against the opening and closing balances printed on the statement, and says so when they do not add up.
Questions about Citibank statements
Do you connect to my Citibank account?
No. You download the statement from Citibank yourself and upload the PDF. We never ask for your online banking login and cannot see your account.
Is my Citibank statement stored?
No. The PDF is read in memory and never written to disk. If you buy an export, the rows for the download are kept in your private session so the button works, and are deleted when the session expires, after at most 14 days.
Can I convert a Citibank statement to Excel or CSV?
Yes. Reading one statement on screen is free. Downloading it as a spreadsheet (a CSV file that Excel opens) needs a statement pack or a plan.
Is a Citibank statement PDF password-protected?
Citibank's own help pages that we checked do not say. If your PDF does ask for a password, open it with the password, save an unlocked copy, and upload that: we cannot open a locked PDF.
Which currency will the report use?
A statement that prints USD outside the transaction rows is read as US dollars. If the only sign is a bare $, the report shows US dollars and marks it as an assumption, because several currencies use that sign.
How far back can I get Citibank statements?
Up to 24 months of bank account statements are available online straight away. (From Citibank's help pages, checked 13 September 2026.)
